About us
Sculling Boat Sales is owned by Ric Colborne who set up Rowgear in 2001. He is helped by various family members with many years of racing, coaching and boat repair experience.
Ric
has a good working knowledge of all types of racing boats through his
time spent as Head Coach at Loughborough University, Leicester
University, Nottingham Rowing Club and Hereford Cathedral School. In early 2019 Ric started up Thames Scullers, a junior rowing club based at Whitchurch on Thames near Pangbourne.
Ric competed for several
years with Nottinghamshire County Rowing Association with whom he won
two lightweight Commonwealth medals and two Henley Royal Regatta medals in the Wyfolds & Thames
Cup, as well as a dozen National Championships medals. He also rowed the lightweight 2- at the
Munich World Cup before going as spare man to the 1998 World Championships in Cologne.
